Hi Everyone, you have reached Marty's User page.

As a quick biography.... I have been an Ingres DBA for nearly twenty years, and have worked with the product from the days of Ingres 6.4/03 to the current versions of Ingres2006. By and large- it's been fun. Prior to being an Ingres DBA I was a COBOL Programmer. I still know what a PIC S9 means!

I have worked for the University of Melbourne in Australia, and am currently employed in Oxford University in England.

Other than Ingres my interests include:

DIY. I don't care what I have to do as long as I get a new power tool!

Gym. I am perennially injuring my Rotator Cuffs! But while I am waiting for those to heal - again, my Deadlift is coming along nicely. 5reps on 160K.

Language. I'm trying to learn German. Why? Wieso nicht? One day I hope to converse at something approaching idiot level!

Sci-Fi. Hmm, hands up all those who can spell uber-geek? And occassionaly I try to watch my Stargate DVD's in German with English sub-titles. The knowledge that 'Raumschiff' is German for space ship may be useful one day.

So that should probably convince you that I'm seriously into looking under the hood at things. Which is why I got involved with the Ingres Janitors program.

I'm hoping that you will find it as much fun as I do.
