From Ingres Community Wiki

I've been associated with Ingres for slightly more than half my working career now; since about 1990, starting with Ingres 6.3/01. Most of that time was as a user; more recently, I've been an Ingres server developer.

I helped choose Ingres for the TelesisMFG ERP system (which is in fact still available, although not heavily marketed as far as I know). Some years of 4GL-based development followed. In 1998 I became an independent Ingres consultant, and starting in late 2003 I joined the Ingres DBMS server development team at CA. Which then spun off to the second Ingres Corp.

I left Ingres Corp for Datallegro Inc in mid 2006, but I still considered myself part of Ingres development; at Datallegro, Jim Gramling and I were busy adding data warehousing oriented fixes and functionality to Ingres. The relevant parts of our work are of course made available back to Ingres Corp.

In a bizarre turn of fate, Datallegro was acquired by Microsoft in mid 2008. Once upon a time, I thought CA was the Dark Side, but I was young and foolish then. A year of that was more than enough, and in October 2009 I returned to Ingres Corp.
