A Brief History of Me
Oct 2007 - Now: Ingres - Appliance Development Team
Designing and building the Ingres Icebreaker Appliances. Probably my favorite role at Ingres to date. Working with fast moving, exciting technologies to produce innovative, integrated software stacks in the form of an Appliance. Recent projects have included:
- Re-designing existing appliances from the ground up to improve integration and ease of use.
- Designed Icebreaker ECM Appliance with Ingres and Alfresco
- Improved rAPA interface pages for appliance management
- Working with services organization to determine how appliances can be improved for use in the field
Jun 2006 - Oct 2007: Ingres - Emerging Technologies Group
Working with community and other members of the team to integrate Ingres with new technologies and platforms. It's a very dynamic and interesting group to be working in, I can be working on any number of different projects from one minute to the next. Projects have included:
- Porting Ingres to run on PS3/PPC Linux
- Porting Ingres to run under Mac OSX
- Developing an Linux GUI installer using GTK and RPM
- Adding support for Ubuntu (DEBS) to GUI installer
- Ingres IceBreaker Appliances
Dec 2005 - Jun 2006: Ingres - Infrastructure Group
Essentially a building and porting team, responsible for build and release management across all platforms. I was responsible for all things Linux, from building to packaging, from x86 to Mainframe! If it said "Linux' it was on my plate. Projects included:
- RPM installer
- x86_64, i64 and Mainframe Linux ports
- Implementing NPTL threading within Ingres
- Redesigning the Ingres build process to use Jam
Aug 2000 - Dec 2005 CA - Ingres Infrastructure Group
More of the same but at CA
Dec 1997 - Aug 2000 CA - Ingres QA Group
First job out of Uni, great environment for getting to know how to use (and not to use) Ingres.
