Overview
Orchestram is a web-based suite of management tools acquired by Ingres in late 2008/early 2009 from an Ingres partner in France. It was specifically built originally to manage a large ERP system built on top of Ingres and to provide the capabilities this large IT operation needed to manage and maintain their infrastructure, but NOT including the basic administration tools for Ingres itself.
The suite includes a Portal where all the other applications are launched from, a Job Scheduler that includes very flexible options for defining and executing one-time or recurring jobs, an Installer (or Software Delivery) component that allows easy distribution of software packages to any number of managed computers, a Supervisor/Monitoring application that uses Nagios-compatible plugins to monitor anything from component temperature to application availability, a Document Management system to manage and route all the logs, and input and output files associated with jobs or software delivery, and a Replicator facility that allows for very flexible replication of data from file to database, database to database, or database to file.
There is a combined installer available that will install the product in either French or English. We are working on getting a link to that installation package available here. And some, but not all, of the product documentation is available in English (the rest is in French).
Long-term plans for the product are somewhat open, but we are actively looking for willing partners to take this as an open-source project and run with it. We also plan to use this as a platform for providing web-based administration of Ingres using the Tools API to provide the same capability as the desktop Ingres "Director" application.
