LDAP Integration
Home

Ingres already has an architecture that supports pluggable security mechanisms. The effort involved here would be to add LDAP as one of the supported authentication mechanisms. Currently, Ingres supports its own internal security mechanisms (referred to as "ingres", "system", and "none") plus "kerberos". LDAP would become a new one much like Kerberos, and probably use the Kerberos implementation for authentication as a model.

A suitable LDAP (and/or Active Directory) product would need to be identified; Ingres would not code LDAP itself, but would interface to the operating system's (preferred) or a 3rd-party LDAP implementation through its API.
