Default Problems with c.d.i. integration

The integration of the comp.database.ingres usenet group is a good idea.
Unfortunately it seems to create separate threads for messages that belong to the same thread, e.g. we have 9 threads "closed journals and incremental rollforwarddb".
Therefore it's not possible to follow the discussion.
It also does a mix-up of threads.
E.g. the thread "Report writer - csv with brackets around negativevalues..."
has been put within thread "Linking problems with VS compiler and ESQLC code"

I am not sure what is going on with the "closed journals and incremental rollforwarddb" discussion. Scanning through the headers in Thunderbird the headers look ok and it's all properly nested.

The ESQL/C + Reportwriter merge is because the latter posted as a reply in an existing thread with a change of subject. In fact that thread is made up of 3 topics...

Do you mean that when you go on: Comp.Databases.Ingres - Ingres Community Forums
you only see one "closed journals and incremental rollforwarddb" thread when using Thunderbird?
I used IE and Safari and both show the same problem, also for other threads, e.g. "SAN to SAN replication for Ingres DR" and "Issue building and ABF image (first time) on Linux".

No, I see the many separate threads here in the forums via my web browser (a firefox variant) but my mail client (Mozilla Thunderbird) which gets c.d.i. via the info-ingres mailing list only sees 3 separate threads for the "closed journals and incremental rollforwarddb" posts:

There certainly seems to be a problem, perhaps the Reference header is not being honored or is being munged somewhere.

That's exactly the problem I mean with the integration.
There are several ways to see the usenet threads correctly, e.g use a "news" reader or go to Discussions - comp.databases.ingres | Google Groups but I thought the integration into community.ingres.com/forum was made to make access easier rather than harder

I talked to Paul about this exact same problem when we first re-vamped the forums to include c.d.i. He said the issue has to do with the fact that these posts come in through the info_ingres mail list (rather than being posted directly to the newsgroup), and that it was not easy (or possible) to fix. Perhaps Paul can make a comment here and clear it up

I am not sure this is the case as I receive/read c.d.i. via the info-ingres mailing list gateway and don't see the problem. That said I don't have access to a news server any more to see if there are problems with the reposting to USENET.

Browsing via nntp.aioe.org (http://aioe.org/):

seems to show the threads being maintained properly, as with the info-ingres mailing list. Which indicates a problem with the vBulletin addon.

Hi all,

I'll look into it as I have time. The vBulletin hack that we use is no longer developed or supported by the original author and my knowledge of the NNTP protocol is extremely limited. I'll do my best to resolve this as time permits.
