Hello,
I recently installed Ingres 10 (ingres-10.1.0-113-gpl-win-x86_64-NoDoc) on a Windows server 2008 R2 standard. This is a 64 bit machine. (typical client install, I really only need the gcn and the gcc to connect to an Ingres database on another server (using odbc...))
The Ingres installer determines on what kind of OS it is running, sees it is 64 bit and installs the 64 bit ingres.
So far so good...Inres is running fine...I can connect to the other database
However...the application i use is 32 bit, and wants to use odbc. On a 64 bit windows machine, there are different ODBC connections for 64 and 32 bit.
For 64 bit ODBC connections i can choose Ingres as a driver.
for 32 bit ODBC connections I cannot use ingres as a driver.
Now...i really want to use the 32 bit ODBC driver, so i tried forcing the installer to 32 bit. However...no success yet.
as a temporary measure i installed an older (32 bit only) version of Ingres as a different installation on this machine (IJ) and now i have also got tho option to use 32 bit odbc.
But...what i really want is the newest version of ingres to supply the 32 bit odbc-driver.
so...force a 32 bit installation on this 64 bit windows-machine
or...install the 32 bit odbc driver and let it connect to the 64bit Ingres installation (is this even possible?)
Does anyone of you know how to do this ?
Hope to hear from you.
Best regards,
